Play All Media Formats in Windows Media Player

WM Player can only play some video formats. 

Some Default supported video formats by WM Player are : .wmv ,  .mov, .avi,  .mp4, .mpeg, .mpg, .vob etc.

It is unable to play some media-audio and video format files by default like .flv, .mkv, .divx etc.It displays a message saying " Windows Media Player cannot play the file. The Player might not support the file type or might not support the codec that was used to compress the file ".
